Couture version of the basic trims workshop. We will be using higher end fabrics and yarn. As in all workshops, I’ll demonstrate multiple variations of custom trim using coordinating yarns, fabrics as well as fibers pulled from your fashion fabric. We will experiment with more complex trims. I will show photos of various trims seen in Chanel boutiques which will be used for inspiration. You will have an opportunity to practice the techniques. Use of Trim Tubes will be demonstrated; purchase of the set of tubes is optional. I will demonstrate numerous trims that don’t require them. Kit’s containing swatches of boucle fabric plus measured lengths of yarn are available for purchase. The cost of the couture kit is higher (due to fabrics and yarns supplied) than for the basic class kit. I will use the materials in the kit for the class demo. Kits are available WITH and WITHOUT hooks. If you already have crochet hooks in sizes C, D, E and F be sure to purchase the correct kit. You may also use your own materials.
If you are sourcing your own supplies, have crochet hooks in sizes C, D, E and F available. Also gather a variety of yarns. Sport weight yarn in colors to coordinate with your chosen fabrics works best. Consider a variety of textures as well as metallic yarns.
It is not necessary to take the basic trim class if you have experience with crochet. I won’t be demonstrating basic stitches in this class so if you’re not confident in your skills, considering enrolling in the basic class before tackling this one. Those familiar with chain stitch, single, half-double and double crochet will enjoy this class. Those starting to crochet often have difficulty getting even tension and working with fancy yarns. There are numerous YouTube and Craftsy videos available.
The workshop will be held via Zoom. It will be recorded and available for you to download and watch as often as you like. It is also an option if you can’t attend the live session. The workshop will last about 2 hours and include time for questions.
