Join me for a 7 day (Monday October 2 through Sunday October 8) sewing retreat in the charming New England town of Bristol, Rhode Island. Choose your project. Perhaps you’re hesitant to work on a tricky fabric or design; need help with fitting issues; solve complicated construction techniques.
This is a small class so you will receive personalized attention. You may work on a new or stalled French jacket. You will receive an extensive instruction manual detailing construction of the French jacket plus instruction on how to create your own unique custom trim. I offer a selection of couture sewing supplies plus designer buttons for purchase.
Drafting a moulage and creating a custom dressform is another option. You’ll receive a detailed manual which describes how to draft a tight-fitting body cover. You’ll refine the fit, pad a dressform to duplicate your shape and install the cover.

Class starts at 9 AM, ends around 5:30 PM. We will work in a private studio. Accommodations are in 2 Air B&B’s with 5 star ratings. Private room with shared bath. Both houses have open living/dining space, full kitchens, high speed WiFi and have 5 star ratings on Air B&B. Owners are local should any issues arise.
You may bring your own machine but I have loaners available if you prefer. Please let me know if you wish to reserve a machine. Professional pressing equipment, large cutting table and individual work space will be provided. Bring your own personal sewing supplies. Apple Annie Fabrics is a 15 minute drive and there is also a JoAnns close by.
Coffee, tea, water and snacks are provided each day; a welcome cocktail party on Sunday plus a group dinner one evening are included. Bristol has numerous eateries and a large grocery nearby.
Cost of the Retreat is $2975.00. Includes 7 days of instruction, accommodations for 8 nights: check in after 3 PM Sunday, October 1; check out 10 AM Monday October 9, 2023.
A $400 deposit will reserve your place. Balance due by September 2, 2023. Cancellations prior to August 21, 2023 will receive a full refund less $100 administrative cost. No refund for cancellations after August 21 unless your place can be filled from the waiting list. Note that due to the logistics of this class, I must require a 6 week cancellation policy. Travel Info: Closest airports to Bristol, RI are Providence (about 45 minute drive) and Boston (about 1.5 hour drive). Bristol is a small town with numerous restaurants a short Uber ride from the studio. Both houses have fully equipped kitchens for cooking if you wish to eat in.
